48 to 72 Hours prior to session

In the 48 to 72 hours leading up to a session, your body and spirit begin a process of “opening.” Many practitioners believe the healing actually begins the moment you book the appointment. To capitalize on this, you can focus on a few key areas of preparation:

1. Physical Detox & Preparation (2–3 Days Before)

  • The “Gentle Cleansing” Diet: Try to reduce heavy, processed foods, excessive sugar, and red meat. These can make your physical system “sluggish” energetically. Focus instead on “vibrant” foods like fresh fruits, leafy greens, and whole grains.
  • Deep Hydration: Water is a primary conductor of energy. Drinking extra water for 2-3 days prior ensures your cells are “plump” and ready to move energy efficiently. Adding trace minerals or a pinch of sea salt can enhance this conductivity.
  • Substance Awareness: Most practitioners recommend avoiding alcohol for at least 24–48 hours before a session. Alcohol can “cloud” the energetic field and dull your intuitive receptivity. Similarly, try to reduce caffeine if it makes you feel jittery or “un-grounded.”

2. Mental & Emotional Alignment (1–2 Days Before)

  • The “Frustration List”: Pay close attention to what annoys or upsets you in these few days. Often, the issues most ready for healing will “pop up” to the surface right before a session. Note these down; they are the “clues” your subconscious is giving you for what to work on.
  • Draft Your Intention: Don’t wait until you’re on the table to think about what you want. Spend a few minutes each evening visualizing how you want to feel after the session. Use specific words like “clarity,” “release,” or “rejuvenation.”
  • Reduce Digital Noise: If possible, start a “low-information diet” 48 hours before. Minimize consumption of stressful news, violent media, or high-intensity social media scrolling. This lowers your baseline cortisol and makes it easier for your nervous system to drop into a deep healing state.

3. Energetic Softening (The Night Before)

  • Salt Soak: Take a bath with 1–2 cups of Epsom salt or sea salt. This acts as a “pre-wash” for your aura, clearing away minor daily stressors so the practitioner can focus on deeper, more stagnant energy during your session.
  • The “Empty Cup” Mindset: Practice letting go of expectations. While having an intention is good, having a rigid expectation of how the healing should feel (e.g., “I must feel heat” or “I must see colors”) can actually create a mental block. Tell yourself: “I am an empty cup, ready to be filled with what I most need.”
  • Early Rest: Aim for a full 8 hours of sleep. Spirit work can be surprisingly taxing on the physical body; showing up well-rested ensures you have the “battery life” to integrate the shifts.

Pre-Session Checklist (Day Of)

  • Clothing: Choose natural fibers (cotton, linen, silk) and avoid leather if possible, as some traditions believe leather can act as an energetic “shield” or absorb energy you are trying to release.
  • Minimal Scent: Avoid heavy perfumes or colognes, as your senses (and the practitioner’s) may become heightened during the work.
  • The “Sacred Buffer”: If the session is at 2:00 PM, try to stop working by 1:30 PM. Giving yourself a 30-minute buffer to simply sit, breathe, and “arrive” makes the first 15 minutes of the session significantly more effective.
